Oliver Stone´s Alexander is based on the true story of one of history´s most luminous and influential leaders (COLIN FARRELL) – a man who had conquered 90% of the known world by the age of 25. Alexander led his virtually invincible Greek, Macedonian, and later Eastern armies through 22,000 miles of sieges and conquests in just eight years, and by the time of his death at the age of 32, had forged an empire unlike any the world had ever seen.
Set in Alexander´s pre-Christian world of social customs and morals far different from today´s, the film explores a time of unmatched beauty and unbelievable brutality, of soaring ideals and staggering betrayals. The film takes a bold, honest look at Alexander´s life and his relationships with his mother, Olympias (Angelina Jolie), his father Philip (Val Kilmer), his lifelong friend and battle commander Hephaistion (JARED LETO), Roxane, his ambitious and beautiful wife (ROSARIO DAWSON), and his trusted general and confidant Ptolemy (Anthony Hopkins).
His extraordinary journey begins when Alexander launches his invasion from Macedonia, first leading his armies to wrest Western Asia from Persian control, then driving his enormously outnumbered troops to an impossible victory over the mighty Persian army itself. Alexander expands his empire into the unknown lands of modern day Central Asia before venturing across the Hindu Kush, further than any Westerner had ever gone, continuing his conquests into the exotic world of India. Incredibly, and possibly unique in the annals of military history, Alexander was never defeated in battle. He relentlessly pushes his army across the sands, mountains and jungles of strange and mysterious lands, conquering every enemy who dares oppose him and weathering near-mutiny by his own men.
The film chronicles Alexander´s path to becoming a living legend, from a youth fueled by dreams of myth, glory, and adventure, to his intense bonds with his closest companions, to his lonely and mysterious death as ruler of a vast Empire. Alexander is the incredible story of a life that united the known world and proved, if nothing else, fortune favors the bold. |

 S-o fi chinuit Colin Farell, dar nu i-a iesit cine stie ce am vazut pe disc un documentar in care intr-adevar muncea la greu tipul si ce-i drept pt educatia fizica 10 dar pt rol doar 8 , oricum filmul nu e rau, dar se pare comercial

Filmul este absolut fantastic. Si ce e cel mai interesant este ca nu evita sa abordeze anumite elemente ale greciei aintice pe care grecii moderni incearca sa le uite. Regia si actorii sunt super, iar simplitatea cu care este prezentata povestea si abordarea directa fara menajamente a vietii lui Alexandru il fac un film care iese din tiparele Holywoodului.

Eu nu sunt de aceeasi parere Mihai, filmul cu micile lui greseli care au fost comentate peste tot, e foarte bine facut, mai ales ca nu prea a fost facut cu intentii comerciale. Cat despre Vangelis a facut muzica mult mai buna in alte filme.

Cu toate astea nu e cine stie ce. S-o fi muncit mult la el, dar nu a fost conform asteptarilor. E de apreciat muzica semnata Vangelis.
Filmul Alexander, apartinand lui Oliver Stone, are la baza o poveste adevarata care aduce in prim plan unul dintre cei mai luminati si influenti lideri (Colin Farrell) - un om obisnuit care a cucerit 90_ din suprafata pamantului care se cunostea la acea data pana la varsta de 27 de ani. Alexandru a condus armatele Greciei si Macedoniei virtual invincibile strabatand 20.000 de mile presarate cu asedii si cuceriri in numai opt ani, astfel incat al data mortii sale, la varsta de 32 de ani, a construit un imperiu cum nu a mai fost vazut. Filmul arunca o privire indrazneata si sincera asupra vietii lui Alexandru si asupra relatiei cu mama sa Olympioas (Angelina Jolie), cu tatal sau Philip (Val Kilmer), cu prietenul sau de-o viata si comandant de lupta Hephaistion (Jared Leto), cu Roxane, frumoasa si ambitioasa sa sotie bactrica (Rosario Dawson), si generalul si omul sau de incredere Ptolemy (Anthony Hopkins). Situat in epoca de dinainte de Christos, caracterizata prin cutume sociale si morale diferite de cele de astazi, filmul exploreaza un spatiu de o frumosete neasemuita si incredibila brutalitate, de idealuri inalte si tradari cutremuratoare.
